Forest School

Forest School is an educational approach that emphasises outdoor, nature-based learning. It prioritises child-led exploration and play, allowing children to take ownership of their learning experiences. By engaging in activities such as climbing trees, building shelters, making fires, and identifying plants and animals, children are encouraged to problem-solve, think critically, and gain confidence in their abilities.

This type of learning nurtures creativity, resilience, and social skills. It also promotes a deep connection with nature, fostering environmental awareness. Importantly, Forest School emphasises the value of learning through experiences and challenges, where managing risks is seen as part of the growth process.

Children are given the freedom to explore the natural environment in a safe, structured manner, allowing them to develop a wide range of skills that go beyond traditional classroom learning. This can lead to improvements in physical health, mental well-being, and social development.
