Please see guidance for parents on emotionally based school avoidance.

This guidance has been developed by Hertfordshire integrated services for learning and with input from the attendance team, ESMA, the advisory teacher service and DSPL8. Although this guidance has not been specifically written for parents/carers of children with special educational needs, this does contain some practical strategies to support your child at home, as well as signposting to external services and information on the best way to communicate with the school and the importance of this in the support of your child's positive reintegration.

Should you require further information about this and how school support pupils and their families with emotionally based school avoidance please contact sian.ford@larwood.herts.sch.uk or 01438 236 333.

We will be offering a parent session on this subject early in the new year.

Who is Bob Dylan and ian Dury?

Or, ….. Children, you can ask your parents!

‘’ The Times, They Are a Changin!" written by Bob Dylan and seems to sum up where my thinking is at the moment. So much has been thrown our way in the last few months that it almost seemed like there was new daily challenge to deal with alongside the existing ones. Yet, we certainly seem to be heading into a much more positive phase. So to keep the music references going, as Ian Dury once wrote - ‘reasons to be cheerful’:

Our pupils (your sons and daughters) have been brilliant! So many of them have adapted and tried their best in very strange and tricky times. Hence the ‘Superstar’ nominations and letters selected by class teams this week.

We have rapidly, and unbelievably created a new platform to learn-by using Teams and online. Although this has generated many questions, debates, headaches, and additional work, it is something that we can and will use no matter where the future takes us.

Many of you have opted to keep as safe as possible with your children at home. A tough but understandable choice and you have coped with this really well.

It’s February and one of the coldest times of the year. It can only get warmer and the daylight hours will extend day by day. This will help learning at school but also increased options for you as families for the evenings/weekends.

Additional steps are slowly but surely being taken to help staff stay safe at school. The vaccine should be given to staff by the end of the half term. With a period of roughly three weeks for immunity to build up (pending any Scientific news related to mutations), we will be in a much better place to have all children back during the second half of the Spring Term. Please remember we are making some changes from March 1st, as long as the virus infection/death rates continue to reduce, as they have been.

Sometimes it is really difficult to see the glimmers of hope and change on the horizon. They’re heading our way. We will still need to be patient and behave in appropriate ways that support the continued efforts to reduce infection. There is no way of promising an Ed Sheeran ‘Perfect’ future. However, it looks fairly certain to be much better in the coming weeks and months when compared to most of the last twelve months!

PLEASE NOTE:
that as per all communications up until now, we return on:
Monday 22nd February at the same time (10.00AM) and with the same pupils.
We will notify you of any changes ready for the week starting Monday 1st March.

Thank you for your continued support!

What goes “Oh, Oh, Oh”?
Santa walking backwards!

Apologies, but I just couldn’t help myself! After such an unusual year, seeing Santa walking backwards wouldn’t even cause the raising of an eyebrow for most people! However, as we approach the holiday season, I think it’s crucial that at this time of year we start to look forward, reflect on the last twelve months and enjoy time with those that are close to us.

At the time of writing the morning news has all been about the very first injection to prevent infection from COVID-19. A hopeful day for us all! I am limiting any COVID-19 references, and the focus here is not about COVID-19, but about our amazing staff. When anyone faces a huge challenge and rapid change it can cause many reactions and emotions. Fear, anxiety, the self-doubt that comes from ‘what if…,’ determination, team spirit and selflessness that come from ‘how can I help’ have been considered by many of our staff during the last year. I have never met such a determined group of people, who when faced with an onslaught of frightening and sometimes misleading messages, both from the media and government, were determined to do one thing. That being, to support your sons/daughters as best they can. Initial lock down experiences really rammed home the fact that not everybody can or wants to be a teacher or Learning Support Assistant. Our staff remained dedicated, full of determination and drive to continue learning and supporting our pupils as best they could. I thank each and every one of them for the way they have conducted themselves during this time.

As we move towards 2021, and just like any other year, your children continue to amaze us all. They have experienced such a challenging year. I will never be able to get over the fact that they have had to get used to increased hand washing, social distancing and staff wearing masks. This, of course is on top of the all of the other issues that many face in ‘normal’ times. Yet they have coped superbly and they continue to surprise us, challenge us, make us laugh and smile and remind us about how bright the future is. Their adaptation, alongside the staff has been nothing but miraculous and I am proud of each and every one of them.

Finally, we all know that Christmas will be a bit different this year. However, our staff have again risen to the challenge to ensure that all of our pupils (and their siblings where relevant) will be opening up presents on the big day, as they should be. My thanks are extended to Mrs Osobu for her idea of a Toy Drive and the support from many staff to make that happen. Mrs Ford managed to use some of her network to secure donations and many staff also made contributions. This is amazing and it just highlights what an amazing place this is!

Special thanks go to:
Sara Lawrence (AD Bly construction)
Rachel (Tesco Community Champion) Michelle (Food/ Toy Shed) Executive Headteacher

On behalf of all at Larwood Academy Trust, have a wonderful Christmas break!

The main focus for us all is getting pupils back to routines, learning and dare I say it, having a bit of fun! The start of the term seemed to conspire against us. Not only did we have the continued complications of the pandemic to deal with, but also major building works have started on our approach road and surrounding land. Our pupils (your sons/daughters) have dealt with all of this superbly. As already communicated with you, it is so good to have them all back and our new pupils have all started to show signs of settling in well. It is always tricky being new, and some may take longer than others to understand the way that we work. However, I am confident that will get there soon.

All our classes are producing artwork which will be displayed in the dining hall. Mr Reid has designed the frames to include material that will help dampen the noise in that area. Of course, noise in that area is not an issue right now as all classes have lunch in their classrooms!

As you know the continuing issues around Covid 19, mean that there is a high chance classes will be effected by the virus, testing and self-isolation procedures. Therefore, in line with all other schools across England, we have developed a range of procedures that will be helpful for such situations. We are using Microsoft Teams as our platform for remote learning situations and would ask that you download the free app on your devices/your child’s device just in case of the need to use it. It can be accessed here:

https://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/microsoft-365/microsoft-teams/download-app

Or

https://teams.microsoft.com/uswe-01/downloads

This will enable us to communicate and teach when the situations lead to some form of self-isolation scenario. This maybe:

If a member of staff has a family member that may be going through the process of being tested for Covid 19, but is symptom free/well and able to teach

If a pupil/family member is needing to get tested but is well enough to learn from home

If there is a positive test result from a staff member or pupil in a class bubble, but some pupils are well enough to engage with learning.

Please note that none of the above applies when someone is unwell and has the symptoms of Coronavirus. If a pupil is unwell then all efforts should be on getting better and following appropriate medical advice.

Despite all the complications, we have had a great start to the year. That has only been possible
with your support and help. Thank you and I hope you have a restful half term break.

Please note all pupils should return to school, at the usual time on Monday 2nd November.

Overwatch is a team-based multiplayer first-person shooter developed and published by Blizzard Entertainment, the same company behind the likes of World of Warcraft and StarCraft. The online-only game, which is available to play on the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC, sees players face off in six-versus-six matches that emphasize both teamwork and individual skill. Players have a wide choice of characters to play as, each of which comes under one of four main classes or roles - Offence, Defence, Tank and Support - with each class having its own unique strengths and weaknesses. In the UK and Europe, PEGI rates Overwatch as PEGI 12, suitable for ages 12 and up, for non-realistic-looking violence towards human characters.

I hope that you have noted, via the weekly letters that we continue to monitor the situation with Covid 19 and act in the best interests of pupils, parents and staff. It is very difficult to know what is ‘the answer’ to such a complex and new issue. However, as you will appreciate if we take it slow and get it wrong, there are less risks. If we change things quickly and get it wrong it could be very serious in terms of those affected and the impact it has on their health. It is also essential that you feel comfortable with a range of factors when sending your child back to Larwood. This would include the measures we have in place, alongside transport arrangements.

As always I am so proud of how your sons and daughters have adapted to the situation. I know that some are finding this just as difficult as the adults are. Yet, many are trying their best with online learning and for the few that we see at the moment, they are behaving in exactly the way we need, to keep all parties safe.

I hope the weather is kind during the half term break and look forward to seeing more pupils, when we all agree it is safe to do so next half term.

Thank you for your continued support!

What a great start to the New Year we have had with your sons and daughters. Many of them are really trying hard to improve their work, and I am so pleased to see how many of them are listening to their teachers and teaching assistants. I hope that you are aware that every Friday, as a school, we celebrate the various great work that has taken place for the week that has passed. Last week was a typical week of comments during that assembly, and they included:

Determined progress with work connected to writing

Numerous acts of kindness between pupils

Acts of kindness to staff by pupils

Sporting success with our weekly nominations for ‘Sportsperson of The Week’ award

Our pupils working within our community by reading and talking with adults at Jubilee Court

Pupils taking part in and demonstrating Life Skills

Did you know that staff at Larwood are setting up and running a Holiday Club?

It starts this half term holiday and will be run by Mr V, our resident PE Coach. It will have a sports and arts theme and no doubt will be great fun. Please contact Mr V directly if you are interested.

Please note that as of Feb 1st, Brandles School formally joined Larwood Academy Trust. You may be aware that Brandles is a secondary school for Social, Emotional and Mental Health related issues. Many of our pupils move there for their secondary education. We have been working with the DFE to enable this to happen for a long period of time. As part of our future collaborative work, we are including:

Joint staff training opportunities.

Weekly meetings between Mr Pearce (Headteacher at Brandles) and myself, discussing a wide range of topics that include curriculum, assessment, staffing, transitional arrangements etc.

Greater joined up working in various areas such as ICT (Mr Newman), site, environment and health and safety (Mr Reid) and how we all approach common issues related to mental health (Mrs Ford). Mrs Smith and Mrs Fitz patrick are also providing support and guidance in relation to financial matters

Potential joint funding of various services that we both use which should lead to savings that can be redirected towards pupils needs

TikTok is a video-sharing social media app available on iOS and Android which lets users create, share, and view user created videos much in a similar manner to Facebook, Instagram and Snapchat. It’s main draw, however, is that users can record and upload bite-sized looping videos of themselves lip-syncing and dancing to popular music or soundbites, often for comedic effect, which can then be further enhanced with filters, emojis and stickers. TikTok has been designed with the young user in mind and has a very addictive appeal. At the beginning of 2019 it skyrocketed in popularity to become the iOS store’s most downloaded app with over 33 million downloads. Estimates suggest that it now has anything between 500 million and over 1 billion monthly active users worldwide.

Dear all,

It has come to my attention that some of our children are part of a 'WhatsApp' group with other pupils in school. Whilst I am a huge fan of using technology to aid and assist learning/life in general, I am very dubious about the benefits of such groups and I am worried about its potential negative effects, alongside the law in relation to this matter.

I appreciate that my advice in this matter can be thought of as interference. However, it is not constructed in that way, and based on previous cases that I have seen the consequences of such a social media group can lead to:

Huge friendship issues and fall outs between children

Unwanted sharing of information leading to challenging, different and unnecessary behaviours/issues

Lack of sleep due to many hours devoted to keeping up with messages etc. This then has negative effects on relationships, progress at school and overall health and well-being.

Therefore, my advice about this issue and use of mobile phones and this 'WhatsApp' group is as follows:

If your child is using a mobile phone on a day-to-day basis, remove it at bedtime and return it when it is a suitable time for use. They are used to this as we remove all electrical items on the door when they enter and they are returned when they go home.

If your child is part of a 'WhatsApp' group then please comply with the law, and remove the app from their phone. Since May 2018, you must be 16 years old to use the app. Therefore using it whilst younger is breaking the law.

If you do allow your child to use a mobile phone, please consider the fact than as soon as they linked to a Wi-Fi network they can access anything and everything on the internet. Just as my advice would to monitor laptops, and games consoles, it is equally essential to monitor a mobile phone in the same way.

If we can be of assistance supporting you with this matter, please do contact us. Please also contact

me directly if you would like to discuss this matter in greater detail or one of my colleagues.

Yours sincerely

What an amazing term with your sons and daughters, as we head rapidly to the Christmas break. I am very proud of how much great progress we have seen in so many ways during this term. It has included:

Some excellent work in a variety of areas

Great behaviour from so many. Recently I presented over 30 Bronze medals in one assembly. This is a record!

Being very honest, open and helpful when Ofsted visited

Many acts of kindness to each and to staff- a key part of our school’s ethos

Other comments on how great our children have been when they attend trips, including the trip to Mountfitchett Castle, frequent trips to Partyman in Stevenage, and singing for elderly people at Tewin Bury Farm Estate.

Just like our staff, who have worked so hard this term , they all deserve a well-earned break.

Other news! Please note that we continue to make progress with Brandles School joining our Academy Trust. As previously communicated, this will mean some changes with staff roles but as we near the official formation, I will communicate these changes with you. I hope that this will all be taken care of by Feb 2020. This will certainly help our transition process for pupils moving to Brandles, but we will also be responsible for ensuring that good progress is made at Brandles for all pupils, no matter where they come from. I have been conducting weekly meetings with Mr Pearce for the past 12 months or so and we will continue to work very closely together. This may also take the form of joint training and buying services that will serve all pupils not matter what their age.

You have already been sent the recently published Ofsted report. Just in case you missed it there were some wonderful comments written by the inspectors which included:

Pupils thrive in this school

Staff organise learning to get the very best from pupils

Pupils flourish at Larwood and are 'wired for learning.'

Leaders have organised an exciting and innovative curriculum that sparks pupil interest in learning

Leaders set high standards for pupil behaviour

Pupils are proud of their school and attend well.

As always your children were a great source of information during the inspection process. Again, I am very proud of them and all the staff for their hard work.

I wish you and your families the very best for the Christmas period and a wonderful new year, when it arrives.

Please note that Monday Jan 6th is an INSET day, with pupils returning on Tuesday 7th Jan at the usual time.

The start of a new academic year always promises so much! New pupils have been welcomed, changes made during the summer term and holiday now seem very old. There are clear examples of new plans continuing to be used to improve upon old strategies, but new ventures are also becoming part of our future plans.

We have welcomed new pupils and some new staff at the start of this academic year. Mrs. Smith is now our new Business Manager, but we retain the use of Mrs. Fitzpatrick for projects. We have also added to our Learning and Support Staff with the addition of Miss Kolthammer.

You may be aware that we had a visit from Ofsted inspectors during Wednesday 9th and Thursday 10th October. This was something that we had expected to happen as we were due such a visit. Until the final report is published I am not able to confirm the inspection outcomes, however, I look forward to sharing this with you, as soon as it is published.

During the summer term, we spent much time evaluating many areas of school life. As always, all of this material is available for you to read. The relevant section can be found in the following way:

· www.larwood.herts.sch.uk - See section tab-‘How Effective Are We?’

Our new School Development Plan highlights the continued need to continue improving in the areas of Progress, Well-Being and Sustainability. We continue to review the quality of teaching and learning every term by using lesson observations, mentoring and data related to behaviour and incidents. We know that we must continue to strive to refine and improve upon our practice, to ensure that all of your sons and daughters receive the outstanding education that they deserve. Your support is essential as we move forwards.

We continue to work very closely with Brandles School, and we are aiming for them to join Larwood Academy Trust by 1st January 2020. This will mean some staffing structural changes at Larwood and I will inform you of these as we move closer to the proposed date above. Any such change made will be completed so that it does not affect the day-to-day quality of educational provision and care that your children experience.

Please do not forget that our half term break starts today and pupils are not expected back until Monday 4th November at the normal time.

I wish you all a restful half term break.

Kind regards,

It has recently resurfaced and once again has come to the attention of schools and children across the country. Dubbed the ‘suicide killer game’, Momo has been heavily linked with apps such as Facebook, WhatsApp, YouTube, and most recently (and most worryingly)... YouTube Kids. The scary doll-like figure reportedly sends graphic violent images, and asks users to partake in dangerous challenges like waking up at random hours and has even been associated with self-harm. It has been reported that the ‘Momo’ figure was originally created as a sculpture and featured in an art gallery in Tokyo and unrelated to the ‘Momo’ challenge we are hearing about in the media.

Wishing all of our pupils, families, friends, colleagues, and governors a very Merry Christmas 2018. I hope that you get the time to enjoy yourselves, and spend some precious time with loved ones and this theme will be something that I will discuss with pupils before the end of the term.

As usual, your children continue to make excellent progress in a wide variety of ways. At the time of writing, some of them will be involved in rehearsals for the Christmas Cabaret. However, we have had many other activities that are worthy of a mention as well:

A number of pupils have been working on their ‘coaching’ skills. They have undergone training, via our Skills Curriculum on a Thursday afternoon and then applied them with other pupils. This has then moved onto coached playtime sessions during the week.

In Life Skills, pupils have received training on how to deal with emergency situations

In Literacy, pupils have been working hard on a range of themes, including Hero’s, Chocolate and Excellent Earth!

We have introduced a ‘Hands on Monday’ so that all pupils engage in their lesson, (on Mondays), in a practical way as possible.

We have had a range of charity-based events including a Coffee morning, Valentines sale, Children in Need and we will be holding our Christmas Jumper day on Friday 15th December.

Some pupils have joined the The Space Hub. This is the old residential area of the school and has now been refurbished to allow us to educate up to 12 pupils. Five of our existing pupils have joined the Hub, alongside some new pupils as well. All pupils in the Hub have autism as part of their needs.

During the first term of this academic year, I have also been working alongside a range of colleagues to promote a wider remit within the community, for Larwood Academy Trust. When we choose to become an academy, one of the aspects of this process that we wanted to pursue was being able to support other schools, pupils and colleagues and other pupils with special educational needs. This has now developed into the following:

Outreach support for Stevenage Primary Schools

This started in September and has been commissioned by DSPL 2 (Developing Specialist Provision Locally), and we now provide support for any primary school in Stevenage that has completed Tier 1 and 2 of the agreed behaviour support process. More information on this can be found by using the following links:

http://www.larwood.herts.sch.uk/page/?title=OUTREACH&pid=100

http://stevenagedspl.org.uk/tier-3/

This service is led by Joe Scales.

Working with Brandles secondary school in Baldock

I am currently continuing to work with Brandles School, supporting the Headteacher review some aspects of day-to-day practice, alongside any strategic changes that may also be developed. We are considering the possibility of formalising this process during the course of 2019. There are many immediate benefits for such a change. The most obvious being a clear continuum of provision from Larwood to Brandles for pupils that transfer there as part of their secondary provision. Additional support is also being provided with Mr Van (Deputy Headteacher) and Mrs Fitzpatrick (Business Manager).

The Space Hub

Following the closure of our residential unit, we have now used the vacant space to open up our Space Hub! This operates like a ‘school within our school’, and is available for pupils with autism as part of their needs. It is not for every child that has autism and has been created for up to 12 pupils.

Day to day, the Hub works differently to the rest of the school. They work in small pods rather than a traditional classroom, and best practice for staff working with autistic pupils is a key emphasis. It is new and developing, but I am very pleased with the progress that we have made so far. Mrs Williams is the Space Hub leader, and Mrs Otero and Mrs McKeever support her.

Farewell to Mrs Massey

Finally, at the end of this term we say farewell to a long serving member of our Kitchen team. Mrs Massey has served our school and pupils for many years. Originally, she worked with the residential pupils and recently has moved to helping with lunchtime service. She has been a fantastic colleague and has always taken huge pride with her work.

On behalf of all pupils, staff and governors, I take this opportunity to wish her a long and enjoyable retirement.

All pupils return on Monday 7th January 2019, at the normal time. As previously published with our term dates.
THIS IS NOT AN INSET DAY!

It's that time of year again where children get new technology for Christmas or spend more time on their computers/tablets over the Christmas period. To help parents/carers make sure their children are safe online, we have updated the 'Parent Zone' eSafety section with a lot of information regarding 'Parental Controls' to help or guide you in the right direction on how to keep your children safe online.

The Parental Control section covers:

Broadband providers (Virgin, BT etc.)

Games consoles and other devices (Nintendo, XBOX, Google home etc.)

Mobile network operators (O2, EE etc.)

Online platforms (Netflix, iTunes etc.)

Operating systems (Windows 7, 8 etc.)

Search engines (Google, Bing etc.)

Social media (Facebook, Instagram etc.)

Tablets and Smartphones

Parental controls can be used to block upsetting or harmful content, control in-app purchases or manage how long your child spends online. And the good news is, parental controls are really easy to set up.

Innocent searches sometimes reveal not so innocent results. So if you’re worried about what your child is searching for online, who they’re talking to or what they’re seeing, the guidance we have provided should help.

It’s simple to get started. And, along with talking to your child regularly, using parental controls is one of the best ways to help keep children safe online.

Conversations starters:

Encourage your child to behave safely online

Help them identify potential risks

Help limit the risks they may face online

Know what to do and where to go if they need help.

TALK!

Sandra Barr - Chair of Governors @ Larwood School
Michael Taylor - Chair @ The Hertfordshire Association of School Governors

Earlier on in the year, Mr Newman nominated our Chair of Governors, Sandra Barr for the Hertfordshire Outstanding Governor Award 2018. Sandra has been in Governance for over 30 years, and Chair of Governing Body at Larwood School since it was opened by Tim Wood MP; on the 4th October 1996. That’s 32 years’ voluntary and outstanding service!

Herts for Learning (HfL) welcomed over 200 governors to the 2018 Hertfordshire Governors’ Conference, held at the Hertfordshire Development Centre, Stevenage on Saturday 17th November.

With the theme of ‘School Leaders Managing Change’, delegates enjoyed a comprehensive conference programme jointly put together by the HfL Governance Services team and the Hertfordshire Association of School Governors (HASG). Opening the conference, HfL’s Managing Director Andrew de Csilléry, recognised the important and integral role that governors play, as volunteers, in raising school standards in Hertfordshire. Rachel Macfarlane, Director of Education Services at HfL, shared an overview of Hertfordshire’s current academic results. However the most exciting part of the conference was the announcement that Sandra had been selected as the outstanding Governor of The Year for 2018.

Sean Trimble (Headteacher) stated that this is a fantastic award and it is great to see Herts for Learning recognising Sandra's dedication and impact, during many years of service. She has always put pupils first, but has constantly considered the challenge that staff and families face when trying to create the very best learning circumstances for our pupils. I have never known a governor to give so much of her time for all concerned. She really is a 'one of a kind!'

Thank you, well done, and congratulations Sandra!

The start of a new academic year always promises so much! New pupils have been welcomed, and changes have been made during the summer term and holidays. There are clear examples of new plans continuing to use and improve upon old strategies, but also new ventures are part of our future plans. This includes the following:

A new curriculum - which is the Chris Quigley model. Please see our website for more information and information shared by Mrs Osobu: Assistant Headteacher

The end of the residential consultation process in September. This now proceeds to a governing body vote and sharing information with the DFE.

Increasing work with another SEMH school (secondary) - Brandles in Baldock. This is one of our main feeder schools for our pupils and we are considering ways of formalising this approach in the future, if possible.

During the summer term, we spent much time evaluating many areas of school life. As in previous years, all of this information is on our website. The relevant section can be found in the following way:

www.larwood.herts.sch.uk

See section tab-‘How Effective Are We?’

Within this area, you can see other sections titled ‘What Others Think of Us’, ‘What Pupils and Parents Think About us’ and ‘What We Know About Ourselves’. The website is always under review and being changed. Have you seen the video about Frank?

Please do let me know what you think about our website, if you can spare the time.

Our new School Development Plan highlights the continued need to make improvements in the areas of Progress, Well-Being and Sustainability. We have various plans involving the curriculum, assessment, outreach, well-being, mental health training for staff, governance, teaching and learning and developing our work with pupils who have autism. Your support is essential as we move forwards. There were many areas of our plans that were successful last year. However, we have also identified areas that we want to make improvements with. For example, the new curriculum has been adopted to promote even better engagement from pupils building on last year’s practice, where pupils were leading themes with their own ideas in writing.

Please do not forget that our half term break starts today and pupils are not expected back until Monday 5th November at the normal time.

Another year has flown by and we are very close to the start of the holidays. I am sure we are all hoping that the lovely weather continues!

I would like to thank you all for supporting our recent sports day and our review meetings. Having read and commented on all the annual reports for pupils, it is really pleasing to see and reflect upon how much progress many of your sons/daughters have made. I will always be just as keen to notice and celebrate the ‘softer skills’ that cannot be measured via a test, such as holding a door open for others or by offering a caring gesture to a friend in need. We are lucky to see so many magic moments during the year and although there are always challenges that we face, we will always remember those magic moments.

Staffing
For September, we do welcome some new staff, as part of planned expansion and associated activities (please see below). Therefore, we have already inducted Mrs Patey, Mrs Friedrich and Miss Steer to join our team of Learning and Support Staff. We also welcome Mr Rooke and Miss Wood to the teaching staff and they will join us at the start of the new term.
We say a fond farewell to Miss Minster who will be starting a teaching role, closer to home. We also wish Mrs Crocker good luck in her new role at anther school from September.

Year 6
As always there will be a few tears when we say goodbye to our Year 6 pupils on Friday. They have undertaken transition activities with staff and have visited their new schools. I have really enjoyed seeing so many of them develop during the last few years and I really do wish them well in their new schools.

2018 - 2019
There will be some critical changes to our school as we go into next year. These include:

The conclusion and final decision in relation to the residential review consultation and potential expansion of day school numbers

The start of provision that will see our school supporting Stevenage primary schools and their pupils/staff with aspect of behaviour management and meeting the needs of some pupils.

Finally, my thanks are extended to all the staff and governors who have made this year such a positive one at Larwood School. The staff do an amazing job with huge dedication and our governors continue to challenge and support us to try and create the very best learning environment for your children.

All the best for summer!
