A jam packed term has left us all needing a timely half term break, to recharge and start again in June. SATS have come and gone. As always you will note from this edition and frequent communication between home and school, that our approach remains the same for this event. We prepare our pupils in a proportional way, try to alleviate the anxiety connected to it and encourage all of our Year 6 pupils to try their best. I know many parents have said exactly the same thing. In traditional Larwood School  fashion pupils were duly rewarded with some fun activities and a trip to the local Frankie and Benny’s restaurant. Well earned, I’m sure you agree.

We have also celebrated some other important events during this half term. A fantastic performance took place whereby pupils from year 4/5 performed to the rest of school and demonstrated what they had been working on as part of our own MAD course (Music, Art and Drama). It was based on a book called Handa’s Surprise and there is further information on this later in this edition. It was amazing and all pupils really did exceptionally well, supported by some fantastic staff. This may well become a performance for parents to come and watch in the future?

At the time of writing we are always pleased to have our school participating in the local Stevenage Sporting Futures, Dragon Boat and Bell Boat competitions. Our younger team managed a second place and were beaten by a whisker, having fought off competition form 22 other primary schools. I am sure our older pupils will be just as competitive.

Finally, please note that a recent letter sent to all parents requesting information when circumstances at home change. Please do call/write or email to let us know when these things happen. It makes a huge difference to our day to day practice with your children.

As always, thank you for your continued support and do enjoy the sunshine whilst it lasts!
