Pancake madness!

I am sure you will enjoy the great pictures of our pancake day on Tuesday. Not only did staff and pupils cook together, and then had the finished items judged by our discerning cooks, we also had relay races. On the very same day, we had our governing body in school to visit classes and help to plan our vision for the next 3-5 years. Just to keep us really busy, we were informed on Tuesday morning that Ofsted were coming to inspect our residential provision! The full inspection was led by Trish Palmer and she thanked all staff, pupils and parents for their help and support during the three day process. Capping off the week, it was great to see so many pupils and staff ‘dressed to impress’ on World Book Day.

BLOG #5

Welcome back and happy New Year! Great start to the term with lots of really high points scores, and positive attitudes for 2017. The first assembly of the year will take place on Monday 9^th Jan and will focus on interesting facts about the number-2017, as well as what pupils may choose to work on and change during the rest of the year.

Writing this ‘blog’ at 7:15am on a cold and dark Friday morning, I think most people would expect the task to be challenging, with regards to trying to find a warm and bright theme! However, we had parents evening last night and it was a great pleasure to see many of you here. It is always nice to see you at such events and your support is critical to our work with your children. Last night we focussed on the ‘core’ subjects of English, Maths and Science. Books were examined and I believe many of you were quite shocked at how much quality work your son/daughter had produced! This was particularly evident in English and the work completed related to various topics including The Big Idea. Long may it continue and my thanks to staff who work so tirelessly every day to help this happen. It seems parents evening may have been good timing for many of our pupils and those ‘brownie points’ that help with that letter to Father Christmas!

Exciting times at Larwood School! Our new website is now up and running and I hope you agree it looks great! Any feedback and ideas would be welcome.

Our new website has coincided with us becoming an Academy School. Therefore Larwood School is now an Academy as part of Larwood Academy Trust. As I have already stated your children won't notice the difference in the short term, but hopefully some of the freedoms we now have will help all of pupils in the long term.

Finally, our most important news-how your children are making progress having come back after half term. Some fantastic points this week and an amazing performance from our newly formed rugby team. Mr V mentioned them all in assembly this week and many gained certificates for determination, passion, self belief, honesty, respect and teamwork. All of which are values that we promote as a school. They also managed to gain fourth place in competition with over twenty other mainstream schools.  All in all, a great start to the second half of the autumn term.
